Why I’m Still Showing Up for Young Readers

After two years of tutoring young readers through AmeriCorps, I thought I was closing that chapter. But as I packed up my materials and said goodbye to my students, I realized that I didn’t want to stop. I loved the connection, the joy, the small moments of growth that came from sitting beside a child as they learned to trust themselves as a reader.

So instead of walking away, I found a way to carry that work forward. This summer, I’m blending my background in health coaching with my passion for literacy and offering something new: Cardinal Literacy Coaching: Reading with Confidence.

Because learning to read isn’t just about decoding words, it’s about building confidence, one small step at a time.
